The first possibility of seeing the New Moon will be on Sunday May 24, 2009 in Chattanooga, Tennessee with optical aids, then, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada also probably with optical aids.

Other locations: The first probable sighting without optical aids on May 24, 2009 could be in Japan or Eastern Russia, but we get no reports from these regions.

Israel--By the time the moon gets to Israel, it will be Monday May 25, 2009; and it should be easily visible if skies are clear.
